Nichibei Fuji Deluxe

Here is a real treat an original Nichibei Fuji high-end model.  Nichibei Fuji was a leader in the bicycle manufacturing industry and this is one a deluxe model.

Note the bull-horn brake levers.



Let's take a look at some of the finer points.  First is the fender ornament in the shape of the company logo Mt. Fuji.  Even the tiny screws bear the company logo.  Nichibei Fuji was known for going to great lengths to design-in their logo (Mt. Fuji) into individual parts.

An all chrome 6 volt 8 watt heavy-duty generator.

The fork is stamped with the Fuji logo and the fork has an ornate Fuji transfer.




Note the rare brake mechanism, first time I have seen this setup.

This setup employed a chain which ran through the handlebars to the short rod at the head.

The detail of ensuring that every part bears the company name or logo is amazing.

Original drum brake or expansion brake found only on the high-end models.
Standard models employed the typical band brake setup.  As we saw with the front wheel the spokes are black enamel and the rim bears the Fuji mark.

Rear fender stay badge.

Rear reflector in a mountain-shaped (Mt Fuji) case.
Note the badge beneath the reflector.  This is quite rare and the first time I have ever seen a rear fender with a badge in this location.




This is unbelievable.  A genuine Nichibei Fuji lock.  Note how Nichibei Fuji designed-in the company logo (Mt. Fuji) into the casing.





Nice copper plated rear rack with the cursive Fuji stamp on the rear.
