次回この記事の日本語版を投稿します。

In the first six posts, Sprung Leather Bicycle Saddles (Part 1), (Part 2)(Part 3)(Part 4), (Part 5) and (Part 6) we took a look at various leather saddle styles from the 1950's: (800 series)(750 series), (900 series)(500 series), (600 series) and (1300 series) respectively.  And, in the previous three posts (Part 7) , (Part 8) and (Part 9) we looked at tools used to maintain sprung leather saddles, specifically the "hammock saddle stretcher", "saddle spring spreader" and the "saddle box end wrench".

In this installment we shall take a look at a tool called the "saddle nut transfer spanner" (shown on the left).

The tool is thin with one end angled appropriately to enable it to easily fit between the narrow spring coils.Img_0070

This is the transfer end which temporarily holds the saddle nut.

The open end size is 12mm.

The nut screws on to the transfer end to hold it in place and prevent it from dropping during installation.Img_0085

The angled end enables the tool to fit between the coils to transfer the nut to the saddle spring bolt.

Once the nut has been started, the open end is used to tighten down the nut.Img_0090
